About Me

Hello, Friend

I’m André Mohrmann.
An experienced Sysadmin, IT professional and fervent tech enthusiast navigating the digital landscape from Bielefeld, Germany.

I’ve always believed that being a great IT professional means being a lifelong tinkerer.
Leveraging over 15 years of experience in the IT industry, I bring extensive knowledge and a continuous drive for learning and adaptation to new technologies. As the owner of André Mohrmann IT Operations, I provide comprehensive freelance IT services, primarily specializing in system administration while also offering support across the full IT spectrum - ensuring that business infrastructures remain reliable, secure, and ready to grow. Concurrently, I serve as the Lead IT Operator at u+i interact GmbH, a role I have held since 2011.

I am a husband, a father to two wonderful children and a tech enthusiast. My passion for technology extends to hands-on tinkering and problem solving, often exploring complex systems and documenting my findings. This inherent drive to understand and optimize often leads me down fascinating paths of exploration and innovation.

I enjoy diving deep into the technologies I use, whether it’s reverse-engineering hardware to build custom solutions, fine-tuning network configurations or creating custom solutions for any problem that comes my way.

This blog serves as a personal chronicle:
A collection of my projects, thoughts, experiments, the late-night sessions and the solutions I’ve engineered along the way to tackle various technical challenges. My philosophy is rooted in the belief that sharing knowledge empowers others, which is why you’ll find detailed guides and tutorials here.

My technical experience covers a wide range of disciplines, from high-level architecture to hands-on troubleshooting:

When I step away from the terminal and the servers are humming steadily, I’m usually spending time with my family or catching some ‘me time’ - whether that’s solving boulder problems in the gym, PC gaming, or tending to my bonsai collection.

Also on my list of long-term hobbies: home-brewing (and playing) Magic: The Gathering Commander decks since 2019. For me, the fun is in the deck-building process - finding those obscure synergies that others overlook. If you are a fellow Planeswalker, you can check out my full collection of analog builds on Archidekt.

No matter what I do, I’m rarely without music. It’s the soundtrack to everything I do, and you can explore my 20+ year listening journey on last.fm.

You can also find me on GitHub, where I share some of my code, and I also contribute to the community on (now seemingly obsolete) platforms like Server Fault and Stack Overflow where I share my expertise.

I am a native German speaker and fluent in English, which enables seamless communication across international technical landscapes.

If you’re working on something similar or have a question about my stack, I’m always happy to chat. Also feel free to reach out via email for any connections or collaborations.
