Uses

Inspired by uses.tech, here is a collection of the tech stack, hardware, and software I rely on for my work as a Sysadmin, Freelancer, and Tinkerer.

Hardware

Workstation & Peripherals

• Keyboard: ZSA Moonlander Mark I - My split ergonomic daily driver.
• Operating System: Windows 10 (with extensive use of WSL).

Home Lab & Server

• NAS: Synology DiskStation (running DSM 7.1). The heart of my home storage and backup strategy.
• Micro-Controller: Raspberry Pi 3 Model B. Currently hosting experiments and formerly the host for my TeddyCloud.
• Toniebox: A modified CC3200 Toniebox, reverse-engineered for custom content.

Networking

• Ecosystem: Ubiquiti / Unifi for a robust home network.

Software & Tools

Development & Editors

• VS Code: My primary editor.
  • Extensions: Remote - SSH, Docker, Remote Development pack.
  • Theme: Solarized (modified).
• PowerShell: My go-to scripting language for automation on Windows environments.
• Git: For version control (GitHub & GitLab).

Infrastructure & DevOps

• Docker: Used extensively for containerizing applications and services in my home lab and for clients.
• Traefik v3: My reverse proxy of choice, handling routing, SSL/TLS, and security headers.
• Terraform: For Infrastructure as Code (IaC) provisioning.
• Rancher: For managing container orchestration.

Security

• Sophos: For network security and firewalling.
• 1Password: Managing secrets and SSH keys (replacing Pageant).

Other Services

• Last.fm: Tracking my music listening habits since 2007.
